George square provides a good starting point for those wanting to explore the city.
The Square was considered by many to mark the City Centre, it was laid out in the 19th century as a showpiece of Glasgow's prosperity and industry. Dotted around the square are statues of famous Scots such as Robert Burns and James Watt.
At the heart is an 80 foot column topped with a memorial to Sir Walter Scott.
