About the ticket: 2004 saw the launch of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Trail Ticket. This is a combined ticket that gives visitors entry into all of Glasgow's paying Mackintosh attractions and the Hill House in Helensburgh, as well as unlimited travel on Subway and First Bus services in Greater Glasgow (from 09:30 and 23:59).
About the man: The designer and Architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh is one of Glasgow's most famous sons, and his influence can be seen all over the city. Born in 1868, he studied at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art where he developed his distinctive flavour, which would become a huge influence on the 'Glasgow Style'.
He took inspiration from the Art Nouveau movement and his buildings are notable for the elegance and clarity of their spatial concepts, the skillful exploitation of natural and artificial lighting and detailing.
