17 hour delay for Flyglobespan passengers
31.07.08
Around 250 passengers endured 17-hour delay at Glasgow Airport yesterday and today, the Evening Times reports. The problems were caused by a technical fault on a Flyglobespan plane, believed to have been in one of the wheels on an aircraft returning from Calgary yesterday.
Passengers on the 16:15 flight to Calgary were stuck at the airport until after midnight last night when a fault was found with the plane. They were then put in airport hotels or sent home for the night, but many had just a few hours' sleep before heading back to the airport at 07:00 this morning - only to find they faced a further delay whilst they waited for a replacement aircraft, the newspaper reports.
A flyglobespan spokeswoman apologised for the delay and told the Evening Times: ‘Passengers were advised to return home or were offered overnight accommodation in an airport hotel. They were given regular updates on the expected departure time of their flight. To minimise delay, another aircraft that was operating on another route was re-allocated to the Glasgow-Calgary-Vancouver service, which departed at 10:40 today.’
