Drug smuggler jailed for 40 months
A man arrested at Glasgow Airport with £160,000 worth of drugs was jailed for 40 months at Paisley High Court yesterday.
Ather Ali, a Pakistani national, was searched by Customs after arriving on an Emirates flight from Dubai in September last year. They found 18 kg of Diazepam tablets in his luggage.
Mr. Ali, 49, was found guilty of possession with intent to supply and received a 40 month jail sentence. A spokesman for HM Revenue and Customs said: 'The sentence sends a warning to anyone tempted to smuggle drugs.'
