Icelandair relaunch flights
29.08.09
Icelandair re-launched its service from Glasgow to Reykjavik on Thursday, with two flights per week - one return flight each Thursday and Sunday. On September 25, flights will increase to four per week - each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The four flights per week will operate as a ‘triangle route’ using the following routing: Reykjavik (KEF) – Manchester (MAN) – Glasgow (GLA) – Reykjavik (KEF).
The flight's schedule fits into Icelandair’s ‘hub and spoke’ system, allowing passengers to connect onwards to its North American destinations including Boston, Halifax, Minneapolis / St. Paul, New York, Orlando, Seattle and Toronto. The connection times to North America are short, resulting in elapsed flying times comparable or better than other routings, such as via London, spokesman Hjörvar Sæberg Högnason said.
