Airport announce 5 year plan to cut car usage
27.02.09
A 5 year plan has been announced to cut car use and boost public transport for those working at or using Glasgow Airport. Under the plan, the airport will attempt to raise passenger use of public transport from 880,000 to 1.2 million by 2012, an increase of over 35 percent.
The airport will also support taxi sharing, plus staff walking and cycling schemes to reduce car journeys. BAA hopes to achieve this via a series of targets by 2013, when the airport's rail link becomes operational and is expected to further drive down car use.
