Hundreds back terror attack heroes medal campaign
22.02.08
Hundreds of people have backed a campaign to get medals for 3 of 4 men who helped police during last June's terror attack on Glasgow Airport. The campaign now even boasts an online campaign on the Prime Minister's website.
Only airport baggage handler John Smeaton is to receive official recognition by being awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal. However fellow hero Michael Kerr's wife Annette has spearheaded an initiative to have the bravery of the other 3 men recognised and set up a website – www.medals4all.com – which has received hundreds of hits from supporters.
Mrs Kerr said: ‘The support we have received so far has been marvellous. I've just received confirmation that our petition now appears on the No.10 website and would urge everyone to sign it. We will also be in Glasgow city centre on Saturday, March 1, collecting signatures.’
The petition can be found at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/medals4all/ or from a link on www.medals4all.com.
