Skyhub opens today
The biggest passenger change at Glasgow Airport for 14 years launches today, with the opening of the first phase of the £31 million Skyhub extension to the main terminal.
The ground floor of the Skyhub opens as a new arrivals hall this morning, a week before the first floor becomes the airport's new single passenger security screening area. All departing passengers will be channelled through the checkpoint, which is the size of a football pitch and replaces the current three separate screening areas.
The extension, which is at the east end of the main check-in hall, will also see most shops in the terminal permanently restricted to passengers (post security) from 04:00 next Tuesday. Staircases and escalators behind the check-in desks, and an overhead walkway from the main multi-storey car park, will be closed.
