Rail link work to cause 'months of misery' on M8
19.03.08
Motorist face months of chaos later this year when a £2.5m project to divert utility services at Glasgow Airport gets under way, the Paisley Express reports. The work is to be carried out as part of preparations for the new multi-million pound rail link.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport needs to make sure that electricity, water and communication services are moved safely away from the site before supporting pillars for a viaduct that will carry passengers to a purpose-built station at the airport are put in place. Work to divert the utility services on a stretch of the St James Spur crosses land at the airport from the M8 motorway to the main terminal building. It is due to begin in September and will continue until April next year, causing months of misery for motorists on the M8.
