Big drop in transatlantic capacity
18.03.09
Glasgow Airport has struggled to replace the hole in its schedules caused by the collapse of Zoom Airlines last year. Seating capacity on flights to North America has dropped by more than a quarter this year, forecasts seen by The Herald show.
Figures provided by independent aviation consultants RDC to the newspaper also show that capacity on scheduled flights from Glasgow will fall by 10.6% between January and August this year, compared with the same period last year. Capacity will fall at Aberdeen airport by 6.5%, but will grow by 5% at Edinburgh Airport, the newspaper reports.
