Christmas getaway begins
This weekend is a busy time for Scottish airports, as families begin to leave the country for Christmas and New Year breaks. Around 400,000 passengers are expected to fly off from the country's 3 largest airports - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen - before Christmas, up 5 percent on last year.
This weekend will see 68,000 jet off, with airport staff bracing themselves for their busiest two days of the year on Thursday and Friday this week, when 112,000 passengers are scheduled to head off to a mix of warmer climes and ski resorts on those two days. A further 270,000 people are expect to fly between Christmas and the New Year.
