Smeato moving to the US

Glasgow Airport hero baggage handler John Smeaton (a.k.a. Smeato) is quitting Scotland to live in New York with his American girlfriend, the Daily Record reports. The former baggage handler, currently head of security at a Glasgow airport car park, plans to become an after dinner speaker and live with girlfriend Christy MacPhedran, 31.
Smeato, 32, who helped tackle the two suicide bombers at Glasgow Airport last summer, met Christy at an awards ceremony last September. He told the newspaper: ‘You have to grab your opportunities in life and so I have decided to make the move. I'm bewildered by how it all turned out.'
'There is nobody more reluctant to be a hero than me but I have decided to make the most of the situation. I'm going out to America initially for a couple of months and I am going to just take it from there.’
