Glasgow Airport hero out of hospital

A hero of the terror attack on Glasgow Airport who suffered a brain haemorrhage just before New Year has left hospital. However, he will need to return in six weeks time for more surgery.
As previously reported, Stephen Clarkson, was fighting for his life after suffering a brain haemorrhage at his mother's home just over two weeks ago. The 41-year-old groundsman, who downed bomber Kafeel Ahmed with a forearm smash during the attack on June 30, has had two major operations to stem the bleeding in his head at Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.
On his release yesterday he said: 'It feels good to be going home. I feel much better. I didn't think I would see the day that I was walking out of here. I thought I was going to die. I thought it was all over. If it wasn't for the nurses and doctors, I don't think I'd be alive today. I owe my life to them and the treatment I received was second to none.'
Mr. Clarkson faces more surgery when he returns to hospital in six weeks. But he said: 'I'm determined to beat this and get my life back to normal. I have been given strong tablets to stop the haemorrhaging re-occurring. I know I'll have to go back in about six weeks but I'm up for it and will keep myself fit and healthy. I have every confidence the doctors will see me through this and I'll survive.'
