Passengers were evacuated from a holiday flight to Spain by armed police after a note was found in a sick bag on the plane, the Paisley Express reports. The plane was getting ready for take off to Malaga at Glasgow Airport on Sunday morning when police boarded the flight and told all of the passengers to get off.
One passenger told the newspaper: ‘Shortly before take off the pilot announced over the intercom that we would have to leave our seats as there had been a threat to the flight. Word quickly went around the departure lounge that a note suggesting there was a bomb onboard had been found in a sick bag at the back of the plane.’
Passengers were taken back to the departure lounge while the Flyglobespan plane, which was due to take off at 06:00, was searched. They had to wait for more than four hours before being allowed to re-board the aircraft – eventually taking off at around 11:00.
However, another passenger told the Express: 'Flyglobespan handled the situation calmly. They kept passengers updated on the situation and about when we were likely to leave.‘
A police spokesman said: ‘Passengers were removed from a plane at Glasgow Airport in accordance with the airline’s procedures. A full and thorough search was carried out before they were allowed back on the flight, which left the airport a few hours later.’
