Airports expect record weekend
Both Glasgow and Prestwick airport's are expecting record weekends as the Glasgow Fair got under way yesterday.
Glasgow Airport was facing one of the busiest weekends in its 40-year history, with more than 180,000 passengers are expected to fly in and out of the airport this weekend, which marks the the start of the Fair Fortnight. Fair Friday, traditionally the busiest day of the year at Glasgow Airport, was expected to see more than 41,000 passengers pass through the terminal.
The most popular destinations are Palma, Tenerife, Malaga, Amsterdam and Dalaman in Turkey. Emirates' Saturday flight to Dubai is sold out and Flyglobespan is expecting a busy weekend with its new daily service to Orlando near to capacity.
Prestwick Airport said it would be handling nearly 40,000 passengers over the four days of the Fair weekend, with Ryanair expecting to have its busiest weekend so far at the airport with more than 30,000 passengers. The most popular services will include those to London, Palma and Faro.
