Flybe axe Newquay route
14.06.08
Flybe have axed one of its new routes due to rising fuel costs. The regional budget airline's service between Glasgow Airport and Newquay in Cornwall - only launched in April - will stop on August 2.
The airline said in a statement that they have not been carrying enough passengers to make money during the current high fuel cost environment. They hope to reinstate the service if the price of fuel goes back down.
A spokesman added: ‘Flybe have no option but to suspend the Newquay - Glasgow service until such time as fuel prices return to more normal levels. The route has proved to be one of Flybe's most marginal new summer ones.’
