Airport growth means Scotland better connected
New routes at Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport mean 'Scotland is better connected than at any time in its history', BAA Scotland chairman Stephen Baxter told the Herald newspaper. He said that new services launched in the last year mean that access to foreign destinations is now much easier for Scottish passengers.
New routes launched from Glasgow Airport in the last 12 months include flights to Boston and Geneva. Together with rival Edinburgh, it has seen flights to 40 new international destinations take off this year, and Mr. Baxter said that this is not the end of the airports growth.
Mary McLaughlin, director of transport at Scottish Enterprise, told the newspaper that the increase in the number of flights out of Scotland had 'been a real boon to the economy,' allowing Scottish firms to build business relationships internationally.
