Business Group backs Glasgow Airport rail link
Glasgow's planned £160m city centre - airport rail link has been backed by Scotland's leading business organisation. CBI Scotland has written to the Glasgow Airport Rail Link Committee giving its support for the Bill, which must be passed by the committee before the line can be built.
The CBI - which represents 26,500 businesses in Scotland - said the link would boost investment in west Scotland and make the area more competitive on the international stage. Alan Mitchell, assistant director of CBI Scotland, said: 'We have long supported the creation of an airport rail link.'
If the rail link gets the go-ahead, SPT will upgrade five miles of track between Glasgow and Paisley, boosting capacity for services from Central to Renfrewshire, Ayrshire and Inverclyde. A spur from Gilmour Street Station, Paisley, will take passengers to Glasgow Airport.
