easyJet celebrate 10 millionth passenger
easyJet has welcomed its 10 millionth passenger at Glasgow Airport. The low cost began operations on 10 November 1995, with it's very first flight connecting Glasgow with Luton. It now offers a choice of 10 domestic and European destinations from its Glasgow base.
Katie Stitson, UK Market Manager for easyJet, said: 'This marks a great achievement for us. Since operations began in 1995, 10 million passengers have chosen to fly with easyJet from Glasgow and in the past 12 months alone we have carried over 1.5 million passengers. Each day we have up to 800 passengers travelling from Glasgow."
The top 3 domestic destinations from Glasgow Airport during the last 12 months were Bristol, Belfast and Luton, with strong forward sales on the new route to London Gatwick which launched on 2 October. The most popular European destinations are Berlin and Geneva.
Clive Wilson of the Tartan army, became easyJet's 10 millionth passenger from Glasgow this morning. He was travelling to Gatwick with easyJet ahead of Scotland's European Championship Qualifying match yesterday against Ukraine. Clive received free flights to Berlin and a bottle of champagne. Fellow passengers joined the celebrations and enjoyed a slice of cake as they checked in.
easyJet operates a total of 10 routes from Glasgow Airport to: Alicante, Belfast, Berlin, Bristol, Geneva, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Malaga, and Palma (Majorca).
