2005 saw Glasgow Airport set new record for passengers
Soaring passenger numbers helped Glasgow Airport notch up another record year in 2005. Figures released yesterday revealled that 536,639 passengers passed through the airport in December, rounding off an incredible 12 months.
Glasgow Airport, which celebrates it's 40th birthday in 2006, handled 8.78 million passengers in 2005 - a rise of 2.5% over 2004. Even though the figures showed that Edinburgh was Scotland's busiest airport during December, the capital airport's yearly figure of 8.45m passengers, still behind Glasgow.
Today's figures for Glasgow airport show domestic traffic remained steady throughout the year, while international flights grew by 5.9%. Glasgow Airport's interim managing director Alan Barr today said: '2005 was another record year for Glasgow Airport. International traffic continues to perform strongly, reflecting the growing popularity of direct international flights from Scotland.'
