Airport expects busiest day of the year
11.10.08
Thousands of Scots are escaping the weather and the credit crunch from Glasgow Airport this weekend, as the October school break kicks off, the Evening Times reports. An estimated 130,000 are due to pass through the airport over the weekend, including 38,100 yesterday - the busiest day of the year so far.
The previous record for this year was July 11, when 35,807 passengers passed through the terminal. Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said an extra 23,000 airline seats had been laid on this weekend to cope with the autumn holiday rush. Top destinations were the sun spots in Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Florida.
