Twenty two passengers were taken to hospital after a bus crashed through the perimeter fence at Glasgow Airport this morning. The accident happened at 07:30 on the A726 Barnesford Road between Inchinnan and Paisley.
The number 19 bus service from Bridge of Weir is operated by Barrhead-based Riverside Transport. The 51-year-old female driver was among those taken to hospital. She was said to be in shock. The passengers were described as 'walking wounded' with 'bumps and scrapes', with 10 ambulances taking the 22 people to hospital for checks.
The road was closed for about two hours as the emergency services took detailed information on the crash before clearing the debris from the scene. Police said investigations were continuing into the accident.
A spokesman for Glasgow Airport said its operations and flights were not affected, although it is likely that some passenger journeys were.
