Glasgow worst hit by ash / strikes

The volcanic ash crisis and strike by BA cabin crew hit passengers at Glasgow Airport worse than BAA's other two Scottish airports last month. At Glasgow passengers were down 13.7% on the same month last year, whilst Edinburgh saw a drop of 11.6% and Aberdeen 9.9%.

In total, BAA's three Scottish airports handled over 1.5 million passengers in the month - a drop of 12.1% on last year. The airport operator said without the disruption passengers would have increased by 0.4% at its six UK airports.

There was a fall of 7.1% at the Scottish airports in the year to the end of May, with Glasgow again seeing the biggest annual fall - down 11.7%. At Edinburgh passengers were down 2.3% and at Aberdeen down 9.5%.
