Ash cloud hits Scottish airports hardest

BAA reported that passenger numbers from Scottish airports fell by over 28 percent in April due to the impact of the volcanic ash cloud closures. Glasgow Airport was hit the hardest, with a 29.2 percent fall to 403,300 passengers.
At Edinburgh Airport passengers were down by 28.3 percent in April to 539,600, and at Aberdeen they were down 26 percent to 185,500. In the year to the end of April, all three airports saw a drop in the number of passengers, although Edinburgh had the smallest decrease at 1.1 percent to 8.8 million. Glasgow was down 11.6 percent to 6.9 million and Aberdeen down 9.9 percent to 2.9 million.
