Passenger numbers released by airport operator BAA Scotland show Glasgow Airport was Scotland's busiest in May. Glasgow Airport was used by 795,732 passengers last month, up 2.6% on May 2004.
Glasgow's passenger numbers were boosted by some high profile events in the city, including the Scottish Cup Final and Celtic vs Ireland football match. Not surprisingly, the routes to and from Dublin performed strongly, and Dubai retained its status as the most popular long haul destination from the airport.
The figures show that In the 12 months to May 2005, Glasgow Airport handled 8.6 million passengers, up 5.5% on last year. Looking at BAA's 3 Scottish airports as a whole, 1,787,785 passengers used Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Airports in May, a rise of 7.6% on May 2004. In the 12 months to May, the 3 airports handled over 19.5 million passengers, up 6.1% on the previous year.
