Police honoured for terror attack actions
The Police officers who helped thwart the terror attack at Glasgow Airport were honoured this week. The airport was attacked on June 30 2007, the busiest day of the year, when a blazing Jeep filled with gas canisters and metal was driven into the terminal. A total of 39 Strathclyde Police officers were honoured and 6 departments received group awards.
The officers were recognised for their actions on the day of the attack and their involvement in the subsequent investigation. Strathclyde Chief Constable Stephen House presented the awards at a ceremony in Glasgow. He said it was the ‘right time’ to recognise the officers now the court case had ended.
