Weather hits flights
09.01.08
Much of Scotland was in chaos today after being battered by 90mph winds and floods overnight. Roads were closed, buildings damaged, bridges shut, train lines affected and flights cancelled after a night of atrocious weather that saw widespread flooding, flying debris closing streets and people evacuated from their homes.
The weather caused transport chaos throughout the West of Scotland, with trains, ferries and flights all disrupted. At Glasgow Airport three BA flights from Heathrow and Gatwick were cancelled in the morning, with the corresponding outbound flights also cancelled. However, no other airlines had announced cancellations by mid-morning and there were only minor delays.
