Islands flights hit by ash again
08.05.10
Flights between Glasgow Airport and the Hebrides were grounded yesterday by drifting ash from the Iceland volcanic eruptions. Loganair cancelled flights linking Glasgow to Benbecula and Stornoway on Lewis and between Benbecula and Stornoway. Flights from Barra to Glasgow and between Glasgow and Tiree were also delayed.
The airline was able to resume normal services just after 13:00. A spokesman said: ‘Forecasts for the weekend show the volcanic ash continuing to move west, away from UK airspace, but we recommend that passengers continue to check our website before setting out for their airport.’
