Airport 'skyhub' plans to be revealed
Details of a radical multi-million pound redevelopment of Glasgow Airport's terminal are to be announced this week. The 'skyhub' project aims to allow the airport to significantly increase its passenger capacity, and is due for completion in autumn next year.
BAA is to focus on the development of the terminal and airfield facilities needed by 2030, when passengers are forecast to treble to more than 24 million. The development will be the biggest single investment in the airport since the early 1990s.
Last October, BAA set out a £290m 25-year plan to transform Glasgow Airport, including a £25m terminal expansion. The airport currently handled 8.8 million passengers in the last 12 months.
