Countdown to Skyhub opening
The Skyhub - Glasgow Airport's new terminal extension - is set to open towards the end of next month and promises improve passenger experience at the airport. The £31m project is the largest single investment at the airport since the 1990s and is part of a 10 year development plan costing £200m.
BAA will take over the new terminal extension in less that two weeks - on September 19 - from building contractors Balfour Beatty and will start fitting out the building. The Skyhub will open on a phased basis, with the first section - the ground floor domestic arrivals hall, shops, bars and restaurants - seeing its first passengers on October 21. Then on October 28 the new security search area will open on the first floor, replacing the current 3 separate security areas, with all departing passengers routed through the single area from that date.
