US flight evacutated over 'threat'
07.08.11
A flight from Glasgow to the US was evacuated at Philadelphia Airport, towed to a remote area and searched by explosive experts yesterday. The 157 passengers and 6 crew were taken off the US Airways plane shortly before it was due to fly on to Anchorage, Alaska because of a threatening note. Nothing was found after an extensive search.
A spokesman for the airline said the information had been received in Europe and passed to authorities in the US. Sniffer dogs and explosive experts went through the luggage, which was taken out of the plane and spread on the runway. No details of the note were given. The incident has been referred to the FBI.
