Plane targeted with laser
07.01.12
A powerful green laser was shone into the cockpit of a plane making its final approach to Glasgow Airport earlier this week, STV reports. The light targeted the Loganair Saab C40 34 seat twin turbo aircraft, which was flying in from Islay, as it passed Strathblane at around 20:15 on Tuesday.
Central Scotland Police are appealing for information after the green laser was shone at the plane as it was coming into land. A spokesman said: ‘Shining a laser at an aircraft in flight is a serious risk to the safety of passengers and crew, as well as people living close to airports. We are keen to hear from anyone who saw this laser or who knows of somebody who uses lasers at night.’
