Shiphol registers 'definite interest' in Glasgow
06.10.08
Schipol Group, the state-owned Dutch company that operates Amsterdam's international airport, said it has a ‘definite interest’ in buying Glasgow Airport from BAA. It is likely to want to use the Scottish airport as a feeder for international flights from its giant Schipol hub.
BAA has been told by the competition authorities that it is likely to be forced to sell either Glasgow or Edinburgh airport. Although it is campaigning to keep both, should it be forced to sell, Glasgow is seen as the most likely to be sacrificed. Press speculation value it at between £500m and £700m.
