Pay and scheduling deal agreed by Flybe pilots
06.08.11
Flybe has reached a pay and scheduling deal with its pilots following 18 months of negotiations, which at one stage looked set to result in industrial action. Pilots' union BALPA said 78% of its members at the airline had voted in favour of the new pay and scheduling deal, with a turnout of 84%.
The agreement includes a 3 year pay deal from April 2010 to March 31, 2013, and a 5 year scheduling agreement covering the period to March 2016. Details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Flybe Pilot Council Chairman Mark Firth said: ‘We are extremely happy with the result of this pay and scheduling ballot. After protracted negotiations, and with support from BALPA, we are pleased our members have accepted what we feel is the great deal in the current marketplace.’
A BALPA spokesman added: ‘This is a significant deal, both in terms of the quantum and the relationship going forward. It heralds a new era in industrial relations at the company.’
