Drug smuggling baseball player jailed
05.03.11
An unemployed baseball player who admitted trying to smuggle £1.3m worth of cocaine into Scotland from the US via Glasgow Airport has been jailed for 8 years. Mexican national Juan Guerrero was caught with the drug, which was 89% pure, in his suitcase at the airport in October last year.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard the cocaine had to be extracted from white-coloured foam lining the suitcase, and would have been cut by more than 90% before being sold. Judge Lady Smith also recommended that the 37-year-old be deported after he has served his sentence.
