Glasgow bound flight diverted over drunk passenger
A druken passenger forced a holiday flight bound for Glasgow Airport to be diverted on Friday. The jet made an unscheduled stop in Spain after a passenger, who had drunk a whole bottle of whiskey, was swearing at passengers and trying to hit cabin crew. He even threatened to wrench open a door at 38,000ft.
The captain of the MyTravel plane, flying from Fuerteventura to Glasgow, had to divert to an airport in northern Spain. The jet landed at Santiago de Compostela, where the other 166 passengers had to be put up overnight in an airport hotel because there were no staff to refuel the plane.
The passenger, from Glasgow, was carried off the plane by Spanish cops, who later released him without charge.
