400 hit by Chicago flight problems
Over 400 passengers faced long delays at Glasgow Airport and in Chicago after two flights were cancelled.
An American Airlines flight from Chicago's O'Hare Airport was due to arrive at Glasgow Airport yesterday morning. But a mechanical problem relating to the plane's hydraulics forced the airline to cancel the flight. It was fully booked with 213 passengers.
The cancellation had a knock-on effect on an American Airlines flight due to leave Glasgow yesterday. It meant there was no aircraft to take 213 passengers from Glasgow to Chicago on the 11:15 flight.
A spokesman for the airline said passengers would be given an alternative flight as soon as an aircraft became available. However, it was not clear how long the passengers will have to wait for the flight.
