Holiday flight quarantined on runway
01.03.09
A holiday flight was quarantined on the runway at Glasgow Airport yesterday after three passengers were vomiting, the Sunday Mail reports. Over 150 holidaymakers had flown home from Barbados after a two-week P&O Caribbean cruise. They were ordered to stay on board the Thomas Cook plane when it landed at 09:00 after a female passenger was violently sick.
Doctors were called and they diagnosed three passengers with norovirus - also known as the winter vomiting bug - which causes severe sickness and diarrhoea. They were allowed to go home after receiving treatment and the other passengers were released too. An airport spokeswoman told the newspaper: ‘The outbreak seems confined to the flight to Glasgow. Passengers returning from the same cruise to London and Manchester were unaffected.’
